Squareish patterned lines.

Doing the Sol Lewitt piece, following directions in a specific manner, although it contains random qualities produces an interesting piece. The Lines seem like they want to connect and make closed figure patterns, but because the line options are chosen at random, there isn't very much connection. Whats nice about Sol Lewitt installations is that there are different results every time depending on each persons interpretation of each person. I was expecting a bigger project. Ive worked on larger Sol Lewitt installations and this was very uneventful for me. Probably, this piece was meant to force the viewer to find the connections and make them mentally since the piece did not.

-----
Begin:

Grab a partner.

Go out side, find a grassy spot.

Cross hands and hold them tight.

Look at each other

Spin.

Spin until you cannot spin any more.

Repeat until you cannot spin, or as you see fit.
----
Ahh, the spinning about at high speeds. Watching Mia and Maggie spin about, was interesting. The point of the proposal was to concentrate on the spinning, the feeling that comes about it and be unconscious of the problems around you.

Doing the activities, most of it is very basic and the general ideas of the mundane in a more higher sense.

Interesting...

-Fluxus-
A group of people that thinking the idea of every day actions is Art, although it being mundain and of the every day, its something we dont think of and is life.
-Gutai-
A commonly heard sound, standing alone, common and always heard, its used as art. Finding the the beauty of anything.
-New Realism-
Taking reality to a new meaning, these artists recycled the reality of everything, the basics and turned it into art, beautifying it.
-Dada-
Art of which isn't art, its more of a statement of the time during the WWII and making art (that wasnt art) that went against the rules of all traditional artists.

To me most of these art forms seem the same, all of them rebelling against the traditions of the classical art forms and opening up the ideas of art. Really, its all the same to me. Art is everything, and everything is art.

Noodly Apdendages

It was hillarious to watch Amanda just break out into giggles as i made each face. But Half of the time i barely made one. Am i just funny? or funny looking? Probably. I'm too short, my feet dangle from the chair. I tend to cross my feet always while sitting in a chair. I wonder why? Maybe from all the years of sitting in the posture chairs and not being able to put my feet on the ground. Hm. I like to run after things. Kind of like a kitten after a butterfly. My hair does this wonky wave on the left side something random i noticed while looking in the mirror. I think its because of my moms wavey hair and my dads straight hair. Would explain. I go on strange rants and interesting dialogues, i mean, they all make sence, but I don't speak fluidly, or at least of what it seems. My shoulder hurts, it always has for a while. I love the idea of infinity, its kinda cool to see how i was able to still see Amanda in INFINITYVISION. I cant draw infinity symbols. I noticed that i walk up the stairs with my left foot pushing me up, that would make sence on why theres so much stress on that side of my hip. I crack my hands a lot. I tend to space out quite a bit while writing. I wonder a lot. I use a lot a lot.

Is this right?

freakin' urinals.

Duchamp,to tell you the truth, i think was a bit out there. With the Bride, he thinks that its a sexual comedy. My question is, how in the world he thinks that's in any way sexual. Its more mechanical and robotic, but i assure you NO SEX. NONE. ZILCH. NINE. NONE. This is more abstinent than a nun! Although, i do see how he did pave the way for pop, minimal, performance, and Kinetic art. I mean, the way it moves is actually quite interesting. But where ever he thinks he can get away with calling his art sexual? Off the pipe my friend. I really kinda think the way the "bride" Moves is kinda nifty, reminds me of those kinetic movement videos where there's this cool domino effect and its with house hold items.

Geometrical.

Floor tiles are awesome. Bringing better life to floors and in nice ways. most individual floor tiles are solid colours and then are placed in random order or in geometric designs. Occasionally, the Tiles wil hae a painted on design when its fired.

In windows, stained glass is placed with geometric shapes and are placed in such an order that shows a scene such as in churches or justa nice design.

Gestalt: A Great journey to the Beyond! Ok not really, but it sounds cool!

Gestalt, at first i thaught was a person when Pat mentioned this. Some guy with a theory with positive negative space. Really, Gasalt is a theory of the way the mind works and the way we percive things. Theres diffrent laws and principals that rules them, one of them is the Figure ground.

Figure ground is the idea where the mind will see one thing first and follows to see something else after. In this image, Theres two images, one of two faces and then a vase. The mind can see both, but not at the same time. Some say a vase first some say the two faces. Thats the principal.

I really still dont understand the point of the concept, and anyways woudldn't it just beconcidered an optical illusion?

Doing the project in class wonked my eyes out with the defined black and white and manipulating the shapes. After awhile i could see diffrent stuff in my drawings. Haha.

Heres My scales! not so musical but very shapeular.

When doing the scales that was really hard to get the shading done corretly. I ended up doing it twice-more because i couldn't get it right. But i got it, it actually better that i had expected. Then my drawing came out kinda neat- although im not really sure if it came out to be Adjacent. I wanna say it did. I had about four or five diffrent values, If you count the spaces inbetween. I liked the overal compsition of the swirls and general curves. Im not really sure why i had no straight lines though.

String Thangs.

That was bloody fun!

Anyways, Drawing the Acoridon was amusing and interesting to see the diffrence of shapes, plus just drawing with sharpies is just plain fun. Most of the drawing was done just haphazardly and was what ever was on my mind. It was actually really neat looking in the end, and i dont think i could get that feeling or awsomeness again.

The String Project was AWSOME fun. Just throwing the string around, climbing over chairs and tables, going under people and tables and just the various things i did with the string was really amusing. I really had no system of going around with the string, just where ever i thaught the web needed more string. I saw an awsome web at some points before either i or some one else destroyed it, and that was nifty keen. I definately hope, if we were to do this again, is to not let ANY ONE tie them selves up, more just because that took WAY TOO LONG to untangle.

Otherwise, THAT WAS FUN!!! :D

Lines and Shapes and stuff

A IS A SHAPE
B.IS A SHAPE
C.IS A SHAPE
D.IS A SHAPE

A.IS A LINE
B.IS A LINE
C.IS A LINE
D.IS A LINE

Why?

Cause, They can be interpreted in diffrent ways, to me all the Objects can take line or shape form.

Lines can be constituted as thin and going in a direction or thick and all over.

Shapes have defined sides and edges.

I guess. o_o

Courbet

In this image, there are three men and a dog. Two of these men are dressed in formal garb of the 1700's. The man on the right, is a traveler and he has a walking stick. They look as if they're on a country side road and conversing on this and that. The colors are subdued and very solid. The image is symetrical, the fore/background division is in the middle, theres four characters on the page, and both groupings take up equal amounts of relative space.

The image has a very casual feel, more the colors give it away and the way the men stand infront of the traveler. It flows together well and the colours are harmonizing with eachother. The way the characters are standing, it allows the eye to flow with them and keeps your attention.

This image is pleasing to the eye and keeps you there, i really like the way the characters have this interaction. The colours flow very well together and the basics of the image just keep it simple and good.
